School shuts down

EXTRA cleaning was carried out at Lidcombe Public School on Monday after a student linked to a known cluster returned a positive Covid-19 test.

The school was shut all day with NSW Health asking anyone who has been unwell to immediately get tested including anyone who develops any symptoms such as a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell/taste, muscle/joint pains, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting or extreme tiredness.
On Thursday, the Regents Park Christian School was also closed for cleaning after a report of a positive case linked to a previous cluster.
Health authorities say children and staff who attended after-school hours care on Monday, August 31, and Tuesday, September 1, from 3-6pm are considered close contacts and have been directed to get tested and isolate for 14 days, and stay isolated for the entire period, even if a negative test result is received.
Patrons of the Leaf Café and Co at the Lidcombe Shopping Centre between 11.30am-1.30pm on Monday, August 31, or Merrylands Stockland shopping centre between 9-11am on Saturday, August 29, are also being asked to monitor for symptoms.
Cumberland is also one of 11 metropolitan council areas where residents and visitors are being urged to get tested even if they have mild Covid-19 symptoms such as a runny nose or scratchy throat.
