Education Week will be held from Monday to Friday, August 1-5, with the theme Creating futures – education changes lives, “celebrating the quality education and the opportunities available to everyone in NSW schools”.
Offering world-class education and welcoming students from all walks of life, NSW schools are providing students with the opportunity to shape their future, no matter what their background, in a supportive and academically rigorous culture.
During Education Week, they will also be showcasing what they have to offer as they strive to enhance learning and teaching and build stronger school communities.
As “a kid from public education and proud of it”, Federal Education Minister and Blaxland MP Jason Clare said “I am where I am today because of the incredible teachers I had at Cabramatta Public School and Canley Vale High School”.
He said to make sure to give a shout out to teachers at our local schools this Education Week – they deserve it.
“The work our teachers do is critical – teaching the next generation of doctors, nurses, builders, hairdressers, social workers, teachers and lots more,” he said.
He strongly believes that “education is the most powerful cause for good in this country”.
“As Bankstown boy Paul Keating once said, our education system represents the ‘keys to the kingdom’,” he said.
“It’s the master key that unlocks every door. The key that unlocks all the opportunities in life.”
School key to life success
THE achievements and successes of students, teachers and support staff across all NSW schools will be celebrated next week.
