Say ‘I do’ to help charity at bridal gown showcase

WEDDING dresses were originally based on Victorian styles, with the colour white becoming the tradition for wedding attire in 1840 after Queen Victoria married Albert and wore a white gown with lace trim.

That then became the style of the day for all brides
A fascinating journey through 60 years of bridal fashions and more will feature when The Cavalcade of History & Fashion presents its collection in ‘Bustle to Bias Brides: 1880-1940’ next Sunday.
Supporting the Australian Red Cross and celebrating International Women’s Day, the event will showcase historical gowns and accessories and hear snippets from the lives of the original wearers.
You’ll learn about the etiquette and social history of the different decades as you view these rare gowns from Cavalcade’s vast collection.
A unique charity, The Cavalcade of History & Fashion preserves Australia’s social and fashion history, with a collection of original historic gowns and accessories dating from the 1700s.
Costing $35 (including a delicious afternoon tea) to be paid in advance, the event takes place on Sunday, March 12, from 1.30pm at The Gardens on Forest, 76 Forest Road, Peakhurst.
