A remarkable achievement at just 15, Jessica spent the last school holidays representing NSW in the U18 National Indoor Cricket Championship in Queensland along with fellow St Christopher’s Panania Cricket Club member, Chrissa Stathis, 16, who has also been selected to play in Dubai.
Jessica’s abilities are not limited to indoor cricket, though, she is accomplished in Oztag, soccer, touch football, AFL and cross country athletics.
She said competing in Dubai would be her first time outside of Australia.
“I am very excited and have heard there is a huge water park and nice beaches which would be cool to check out,” she said.
In the GWS Giants development squad, Jessica advises young girls to try as many sports as possible.
“Since I was young my parents put me in a ton of different sports which I think has helped with the drive I have to push myself,” she said.
It will also be Chrissa’s first time competing internationally and she is “excited and a little anxious”.
The accomplished League Tag player in winter, pulls on the whites for Bankstown Sports Womens Cricket Club in second grade in summer and hopes the Dubai experience will allow her to have some first grade games this season.
“I just love competing and cricket is multifaceted,” she said.
“You need the skills, the speed and also the mental hardness as well as having a game awareness.”
