Saints cricket award outstanding

CAPPING off an exciting year which saw four teams make the semi finals, St Christopher’s Cricket Club has hosted its annual 2023-24 presentation event at Panania Diggers with a surprisingly large crowd braving the rain to see the best and fairest rewarded.

Awards were presented to Mini Player of the Year, Max Gaughan; Junior Player of the Year, George Psomas; Senior Player of the Year, Luke Stocks; and Club Person of the Year, Alison Sheehy (all pictured).
Saints Vice President Andrew Sheehy said it was great to recognise all of the players and great to acknowledge the major award winners.
“Max is a great kid who is a talented all round sportsman,” he said.
“Meanwhile George achieved the rare feat of winning the mini player of the year and junior player of the year in consecutive seasons; he is another great kid whose performances on the field are only exceeded by his level of improvement each year.
“Luke is our 8th grade captain and longest serving member and he had a great season with bat and ball too; in fact, he’s so respected in our club that the junior player of the year award was renamed this season to be known as the ‘Luke Stocks Shield’.”
Andrew said that Alison was the ideal committee member who went above and beyond to help promote the club, build relationships with sponsors and ensure everyone had a great experience with the club.
