Safety campaign proves winner

A SAFETY campaign inspired by a need to inform the community about the ways they can practice living safely in their homes, on the road and throughout their daily lives, has won 2MFM – Muslim Community Radio a gong.

The station won the 2019 National Ethnic and Multicultural Broadcasters’ Council (NEMBC) Community Engagement award in the metro station category for its ‘Living Safely’ campaign.
The campaign was led by program manager, Faten El Dana (pictured with the award), who said liaising with local police to deliver safety messages in various languages, is the epitome of community radio – to use programming that services the multicultural community’s needs and operate within the principles of community broadcasting.
“In addition to English and Arabic, the initiative was delivered by volunteer multilingual presenters including Urdu and Indonesian as the radio station consistently supports ethnic community broadcasters,” she said.
President of 2MFM, Rafic Hussein commended the hard work of the station’s staff and volunteers and thanked sponsors and listeners for their continuous support.
“This type of media diversity and support amplifies the voice of multiculturalism in the Australian landscape,” he said.
