‘Rugby stars of future’ shining on mini match day

HOSTED by Oatley Rugby Club, hundreds of mini players aged from five to nine years, strutted their stuff with an energy that exhibited a real passion for being on the field with their mates at Riverwood Park on Saturday.

Supported by coaches and other volunteers and cheered on by proud parents, the true vision of what sport is all about was on display.
Playing modified rules appropriate to their age, it’s estimated around 900 tries were scored on the day.
A spokesperson said it was a great day with a future Wallaby or two among all the smiling faces.
“The exciting thing is we always have room for more to join in the fun,” he said.
“Riverwood Park is certainly establishing itself as the home of rugby in the Georges River area.”
