Rotary’s Police Officer of Year wins

DETECTIVE Senior Constable Mark O’Reilly was among five winners at the fifth annual Cumberland Police Area Command Awards, picking up the Police Officer of the Year Award.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Holroyd, the awards are an opportunity to say thank you to those who endeavour everyday to bring order to what can sometimes be disorder.

Rotary Club of Holroyd’s Vocational Director Narelle Wilson said these unsung heroes of the community were quietly getting on with the job and making a huge difference in people’s lives.

“We wish we could do more for them but this is our way of saying thank you to our hard-working local police,” she said.

Finalists and other winners (pictured) were: Customer Service Award, General Administration Officer Elif Davis; New Police Officer of Year Award, Constable Matej Vidovic; and Leadership Award, joint winners Inspector Danielle Byrne and Sergeant Matthew Jones.
