Rock star royalty among Carols entertainer lineup

MAHALIA Barnes has been singing for as long as she can remember. Born into Aussie rock royalty, the daughter of legendary singer Jimmy Barnes, is well-known as one of our most talented live acts.

Next week, she will be shining in the spotlight when she performs at the CBCity Christmas Carols extravaganza.
“I’m thrilled to be singing in Canterbury Bankstown this year,” she said.
“It’s a wonderful community event, great for families and a perfect way to get into the Christmas and holiday spirit.”
It will be a magical evening of singing, food, fun and festivity, at the Wiley Park Amphitheatre on Sunday, December 4, from 6pm, so bring your picnic blanket, family and friends, and enjoy.
“Christmas is my favourite time of the year. In our family, it’s a chance to get the whole tribe together (there’s a lot of us!). A chance to celebrate and to cook and share,” Mahalia said.
“We have a bunch of traditions at Christmas time, and one I really love is that we have to make some of our gifts, which makes it really special – you have to really put thought and effort in and be creative … those gifts usually are more special than a store-bought gift.”
You’ll also be entertained by local singing star Theoni Marks (from ‘The Voice’), several of the amazing TAP performers, the Salvation Army band, the Kiki & Pascal Christmas Magic Show and much more.
Children will also be able get up-close to Santa and his sleigh, while the night will end with a “bang” – a fantastic display of fireworks.
Mayor Khal Asfour says he’s also looking forward to the evening.
“Christmas is always a magical time in our City; everyone is welcome to join in the festivities and I hope we all take time to be thankful for all the good things in our lives,” he said.
