Police said the motorbike collided with a grey Toyota Fortuna on John Street near the intersection of Edith Street, with the rider, a man aged in his 20s, suffering serious injuries and taken to hospital.
The driver, a man aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established and will be examined by officers from the Crash Investigation Unit.
Any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage, are urged to contact police.
