Officers stormed the home last Tuesday about 5.15pm and found the injured 26-year-old who had allegedly been tied up, his faced covered, had numerous face injuries and his teeth forcibly removed.
Detective Superintendent Joe Doueihi, Robbery and Serious Crime Squad Commander, said the alleged level of violence was extreme.
He said the man was repeatedly assaulted and tortured over a six-day period, as police worked around the clock to locate him.
Supt Doueihi said as soon as police identified the location, they moved in.
Police will allege in court the group abducted the man and detained him against his will for ransom, before he was physically abused over a period of six days.
The man was allegedly forced into a vehicle early on Thursday, March 9, by a group of armed men who forced entry to a home in Smithfield.
Acting on intelligence and following extensive inquiries, Tactical Operations Unit (TOU) officers stormed the home, locating the injured 26-year-old and arresting a 19-year-old man inside the home.
He was charged with special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, demand property with menaces with intent to steal, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in public place, and cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
Two 20-year-old men were arrested during a vehicle stop in Belmore and were charged with special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, demand property with menaces with intent to steal, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, possess unregistered unauthorised pistol in public place, and cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, while one of the men was charged with an additional offence of drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.
A third man, aged 20, was also arrested in Belmore and charged with special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence, take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, demand property with menaces with intent to steal, participate criminal group contribute criminal activity, and cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.
A further two men, aged 19 and 21, are also facing multiple charges.
Rescue man after six days of torture
A MAN allegedly kidnapped for ransom and tortured over six days has been rescued from a Belmore home by heavily armed police.
