Remaining batsmen will need to step up and perform if Eagles want to win

AFTER strong wins in the last three rounds to move into second spot on the competition table, the Eagles first grade has run into some strong opposition.

A determined Roseville team took full advantage of batting first on its home ground of Roseville Chase Oval last Saturday.
Their top order batsmen had little trouble with the early efforts of Eagles bowlers and were cruising to a big total at 3-154.
In an effort to obtain breakthrough, Auburn’s Captain Yasir Ali continued to rotate his bowlers around until wickets finally started to fall, which resulted in Roseville losing seven wickets for only an additional 54 runs and all out for 208 runs.
Wicket takers for the Eagles were Yasi Ali 3-39, Gihan Ebert 3-38 and Zain Khan 2-38.
With 25 overs left in the day’s play, the Eagles batted out the day with the view to establishing a good platform for day two next Saturday. However, in what can only be described as a disastrous period of play for the Eagles, the team lost five wickets to be 5-59 at the conclusion of play.
The remaining five batters will need step up and perform if the Eagles are to win.
Lower grades: Second Grade put in an outstanding performance to bowl Roseville out for 81 runs, with left arm pace bowler, Thanuja Mudyansela taking 5-22 and promising young off spinner all-rounder, Aryan Totade taking 2-11. The Eagles went in to bat and finished the day on 1-140, with Shafeeq Nouree 62 not and Aryan Totade 52 not out.
The Third Grade Eagles were also dominant, bowling out Roseville for 98 and 2-34, way short of Auburn’s 3-200, while Fifth Grade lost to Epping.
The performance by 14-year-old leg spinner Nygel Shah was the highlight of the day in fourth grade with Roseville finishing with 216.
