‘Reconnect’ invite at Seniors Festival

THE valuable contribution seniors have made to the community will be recognised and celebrated during the annual Seniors Festival this week.

With this year’s theme being ‘Reconnect’, Cumberland City Council will host a range of free lunches, morning teas, talent shows, health and technology webinars, bus trips, a golf day and more to support senior residents in the community to reconnect with people, music, activities, libraries and services, all within Covid-safe settings.
Cumberland Mayor Lisa Lake paid tribute to the valuable contribution seniors have made to the community and said their experience and wisdom had a significant influence in shaping our values and way of life.
“We have so many valued seniors over the age of 60 that make up 15 percent of our population, and have put a lot of time and effort into helping our community thrive to make Cumberland a more vibrant place to live. It’s important that we recognise and celebrate their role,” the Mayor said.
“This festival will be a great opportunity for our seniors to actively participate in the community, try new experiences or even learn new skills.
“After months of distancing, it’s time to come together and reconnect in person and online with fun and entertaining events and activities. I encourage all our seniors to get involved, as there is something for everyone.”
