Mayoral Certificates of Recognition will be awarded to individuals, organisations and school children for their selfless contribution … “not based on any popular vote but merit”.
“I know there are any number of awards which recognise these people, people who are nominated and put forward by various groups … I want the community to know, as a council, we appreciate the work they do and that we care,” the Mayor said.
“People like our volunteers, teachers, community leaders, mums and dads and grandparents.
“People who are not seeking any recognition or fanfare, but simply doing what they do out of a sense of love and giving back and they do it from their hearts.”
The first certificate will be a Mayoral Award bestowed to locals who contribute to our city, recognising “those I encounter, or am told about during my visits across our City”.
The second certificate, the Mayor’s Merit Award will acknowledge school children. A non-academic award, it will be presented to a student/s, nominated by their school, as someone who has contributed to making a real difference.
Recognition for ‘residents who go extra yard’
MANY of the everyday Australians going the extra yard to improve the lives of others will be recognised for their efforts in a show of appreciation by Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Bilal El-Hayek.
