Recognition for pair’s million-dollar gifts

A CELEBRATION recognising millions of dollars in charitable donations made by Granville couple, the late Ross and Jo Redfern, was hosted by the Granville Rotary Club at Granville Diggers (pictured).

Their family, friends, fellow Rotarians and dignitaries came together to highlight the pair’s generosity in donating $1 million each to the Australian Rotary Health, the Royal Flying Doctors Service and The Westmead Institute of Medical Research.
Mr Redfern was a member of the club for over 40 years, serving as president twice, and was also part of the club’s Global Grant Project team, travelling to Vanuatu and Nepal to execute multiple hospital and school construction and refurbishment projects.
Rotary Club of Granville secretary and assistant district governor, Renga Rajan, said Mr Redfern was a respected businessman running his printing business in John Street for decades.
“He also went to the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne as an official for fencing which was his passion.”
Retiring from the club in 2014, Mr Redfern died the following year and his wife passed away in March 2018, but Mr Rajan said plans to highlight the work done by the couple early last year were affected by the pandemic.
