Reaches 104th before passing

ONE of Canterbury Bankstown’s oldest residents – Julia Saba – will be farewelled this week after passing away last Wednesday, four days after turning 104 on January 6 and enjoying a spectacular birthday celebration (pictured) at Rosemore Aged Care Centre in Belmore.

The mother of five, grandmother of 12, great grandmother of 27 and great great grandmother of one, arrived from Lebanon with five children in tow in 1954, following her husband Nemtallah (Norm) who’d arrived several years earlier.
Living in Belfield for 40 years before going into aged care, the non-smoker and drinker loved cooking, gardening and walking and was passionate about her family.
“Her greatest joy was when she had all the family around her and she had many of them with her just before her passing,” son Robert said.
“She still had all of her marbles and will remain our family’s greatest inspiration.”
