Queen’s Scout Award win

TWO Venturer Scouts from the 2nd Bankstown (LD Bach Viet) Scout Group have been awarded the highest youth award achievable in the Scouting movement.

Yagoona’s Robert Hoang and Kathy Nguyen joined more than 30 Venturer Scouts from across NSW at Government House to be presented with the prestigious Queen’s Scout Award by the NSW Governor Margaret Beazley.
“After starting in 2016, it’s a wonderful feeling to have finally achieved my goal,” Robert said.
“I am studying for an Education Degree so I’m sure the experience and the skills I now have will benefit my future career but for now, I will continue to serve my scouting community as a Rover.”
The Queen’s Scout Award is considered a significant undertaking, with most Venturers dedicating more than 250 hours of participation on top of school and work.
To achieve the award, Venturers are required to complete each of the 13 Venturer Award level activities and a further 30 hours developing leadership, outdoors ability, personal growth and community involvement.
Robert and Kathy undertook expeditions on the challenging Kanangra to Katoomba track in the Blue Mountains as well as the Great North Walk.
