As locals continue feeling the pinch of the cost of living, and many children going without, the council has decided to support struggling families by gathering toy and clothing donations.
A council spokesperson said the Eid and Easter Toy Drive was the perfect way to make sure families enjoyed the holiday season without additional financial stress.
She said with the various religious holidays and spiritual events being celebrated across our City during this time of year, “it was an opportune time for the community to rally behind those less fortunate”.
Donations are being accepted at the council’s Bankstown and Campsie Customer Service Centres, Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre and Campsie Library and Knowledge Centre, until Tuesday, April 9.
Items that will be accepted include new board games, toys and books; pyjamas and slippers; beanies and warm clothing; stationery and school supplies; and gift cards and vouchers.
“A small donation to the council’s Eid and Easter Toy Drive could help put a smile on a child’s face these holidays,” the spokesperson said.
