About 2.40pm, emergency services were called to Stacey Street, near Wattle Street, after reports a car had hit a horse, injuring its 35-year-old male rider.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics for leg injuries before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
A short time later, police were called to Canterbury Road, near Claribel Street, following reports a horse had been hit by a truck.
The horse suffered critical injuries and was humanely euthanised at the scene. Police are investigating.
Seize loaded pistol, drugs, cash
A LOADED pistol, ammunition and cash were allegedly seized by police from a home in Greenacre last Tuesday.
Strike Force Polar, which was formed to target drug supply, manufacture and mid-level organised crime within the South West Metropolitan Region, conducted a Firearms Prohibition Order (FPO) and Weapons Prohibition Order (WPO) search at a home on Macquarie Street, where they allegedly seized a loading pistol, cocaine, $47,000 cash and ammunition.
Each of the items will be forensically examined by specialist police.
A 41-year-old man was arrested at the home and charged with 12 offences including recklessly deal with proceeds of crime, goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, possess unauthorised pistol, possess unregistered firearm-pistol, not keep firearm safely-pistol, two counts of possess ammunition, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, supply prohibited drug (between indictable and commercial quantity), and two counts of possess prohibited drug.

Arrest teens over stolen car flee
TWO teenagers have been charged with a string of offences following a pursuit through through several suburbs, including Bankstown, in a stolen Range Rover.
Just after 12am on Sunday, police were conducting proactive patrols at Cherrybrook, as part of Strike Force Coborro which was established to investigate stolen motor vehicles and theft from motor vehicle offences across Sydney.
Officers observed a black Range Rover travelling on New Line Road, and after conducting checks of the vehicle, established it was stolen from outside a home on Dunlop Street, Epping, about 3.45am on Tuesday, June 8.
Police began a pursuit after the vehicle allegedly failed to stop, however, it was terminated a short time later due to safety concerns. PolAir continued to monitor the vehicle.
About 12.30am, police noticed the Range Rover driving on Elizabeth Street in the Sydney CBD, before it turned into St James Road and stopped and the occupants fled on foot.
Following a short foot pursuit, three males aged 16, 17 and 20 were arrested.
A 16-year-old boy was charged with three counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
A 17-year-old boy was charged with five counts of enter vehicle or boat without consent of owner, four counts of larceny, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, dishonestly obtain property by deception, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, possess prohibited drug, and participate criminal group contribute criminal activity.
A 20-year-old man was released pending further inquiries.
