Push to see all rooftops having solar panel boost

MOST buildings – from toilet blocks and clubhouses to larger depots and sports centres – should be used to help produce solar energy, according to Cr Bilal El-Hayek.

He said “the feasibility of solar is getting better all the time so what was not feasible last year might be good value for money this year”.
During a recent visit to Belmore Sports Ground, he said it occurred to him that the site would be a good space to install solar panels – and there must be many more.
The council will maximise all opportunities to increase its ability to capture, store and use solar energy, utilising its facilities.
Solar has already been installed on 13 large, council owned rooftops, which should increase to 22 by the end of the year.
