Mahmoud Salhab, 37, was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police were called to Rawson Place about 9.20am, where they allegedly found a 54-year-old man suffering stab wounds to his lower back, chest, and shoulder.
Police rendered first aid before the man was treated on scene by paramedics and then taken to hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Mr Salhab didn’t apply for bail and will return court on June 23.
