A ‘Public Housing Plan for Birds’ is the work of Ashfield artist Angela Robertson-Buchanan who said the Inner West of Sydney is “abundant with birdlife – but they are losing their vital habitat due to urban development”.
She says her work aims to educate citizens on what bird species can be seen locally – “Almost like an identification guide”.
“It’s important for us to be more tolerant and try and create habitat for them in our own backyards and balconies – as well as put out fresh water in times of drought,” she said.
The Art Seat is a space where local artists can showcase their work and has become a landmark meeting point.
