Proudly multicultural school lifting academic bar

BIRRONG Girls High School continues to uphold its fine academic tradition with eight students gaining a total of 13 nominations on the HSC Distinguished Achievers List and 98 per cent of all students eligible for tertiary placement offers..
School dux Layal Alameddine achieved an ATAR of 94.7 with three nominations – English Advanced, English Extension 1 and Society and Culture.

Other high-achieving students were: Zam Zam Al-Mosawi (three subjects); Celine Bakkour (two subjects); and a subject each for Isabelle Heng, Mariam Kassem, Razan Khodragha, Natania Levula and Rukaya Mallouk.
As a proudly diverse cultural and linguistic community, with 94 per cent coming from a non-English speaking background, students work collaboratively with their teachers within a highly challenging and supportive environment, including running a highly successful Senior Learning Centre with teacher support and mentoring, to attain above state average results across a range of courses.
“Students and teachers are to be congratulated on their hard work, dedication and commitment,” Deputy Principal Equity Kelly Andrews said.
“We wish all the 2022 HSC class success and happiness in the future.”
Minister for Education and Early Learning, Sarah Mitchell, offered her congratulations to all students who finished the HSC last year, “marking the end of their 13-year schooling careers and the next exciting chapter of their lives”.
