Probus to help you get more out of life

WHY sit at home and be bored when you can meet up with great friends every month, enjoy a day trip away every other month and an annual holiday outside of Sydney?

Celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, Guildford Probus Club boasts about 60 male and female members but say there’s always room for more.
Committee member Gwenda Collins says the club has a great Tours Officer and fantastic trips away each year except during Covid.
“We have been to Floriade in the ACT, Hawaii, the Gold Coast, Melbourne Flower Show, New Zealand, Norfolk Island, Snowy Mountains, Fiji, Lakes Entrance, Lightning Ridge, Oberon, Yarrawonga, Longreach and Merimbula,” she said.
“This year we travelled to the Flower Festival in Toowoomba; it was such a wonderful holiday.”
She said their day coach outings always included visiting somewhere scenic along the way with lunch at interesting venues.
“Alternate months we have lunch at a local hotel or restaurant or do a $2.50 outing with Opal Card,” she said.
“Members also enjoyed ambling around Sydney Botanical Gardens in September, grateful for the favourable weather.”
With meetings held at Guildford Leagues Club on the first Thursday of the month (next on November 3) from 10am, Probus members enjoy interesting guest speakers and also often knit rugs and teddies for charity.
“It’s a wonderful group to be a part of and we invite others to join,” Gwenda said.
