FIVE Western Sydney Labor Party branches have been suspended and an investigation launched into a number of allegations around membership and falsified branch books.
A spokesperson from the NSW Labor Opposition, told the Review that the Granville Central, Park Hill, Granville East, Guildford and Harris Park Labor Party branches have all been suspended until the conclusion of the investigation.
“The NSW Branch of the ALP has opened an investigation into allegations of a number of irregularities that were alleged to have occurred in Western Sydney branches,” the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said NSW Labor Leader Jodi McKay had expressed “full confidence” in both the State MP for Granville, Julia Finn, and State MP for Auburn, Lynda Voltz.
Both Ms Finn and Ms Voltz have both previously issued statements strongly denying any involvement in falsifying branch attendance records.
Ms Finn said last month that she was “overwhelmingly endorsed as Labor’s candidate for Granville in 2014 by a margin of 125-35”, and all the allegations referred to meetings held afterwards.
