Riverwood Fire Brigade were last week invited to visit and share the importance of fire safety.
Sgt Hunter spoke about the need of having a smoke alarm in the house, the importance of staying safe in the event of a fire, and what to do and who to call in the event of a fire.
Other vital points for children include: Learn the emergency number ‘000’; Don’t hide, go outside; No going back; Get down low and go go go; Stop, drop and roll; Tell a grown up if you find matches or lighters; and Don’t leave toys near fires or heaters.
Educational Leader Nina Palumberi said the children had a great time spraying and feeling the water pressure.
“They got a close look at all of the equipment that firefighters use, as well as the uniform that firefighters are required to wear,” she said.
“We would like to thank Riverwood Fire Brigade for their time and value the strong community ties we are making with vital groups within our community.”

THEY might only be little, but children attending Riverwood Community Centre’s Long Day Care are already being trained on how to react if there’s a fire.
