Preschoolers enjoy ‘Olympics’

CHILDREN from Lidcombe Preschool Kindergarten and Choice Preschool Kindergarten Auburn, travelled to Wyatt Park last week and with the help of Wests Track and Field Club members, enjoyed running races, hurdles, long jump, shot put and many more sports.

There were lots of parents to cheer on the young athletes and the event ended with singing the national anthem and awarding medals.
This followed the 2024 Paris Olympic Games being a huge topic of interest for the children who have been learning about the history of the Olympic Games as well as all the different sports played and counting the medals the countries have been winning.
Kindergarten Director Karthika Viknarasah said it was great to see a new generation of Australians participating in sport from a young age and thinking of themselves as athletes.
“It’s important to foster a love of learning and of sport as these are important habits for a healthy and fulfilled life,” she said.
“Perhaps we have a future Olympian in our midst.”
If anyone is interested in athletics, Wests Track and Field Club welcomes members from age three to 90 and offer world class coaches in many different sports. Register at weststrackandfield.com.au.
