Mr Minns said he was honoured to invite and partner with Mr Perrottet in support of Sydney’s national basketball league teams as they begin their championship quests.
“Sydney is the Hoops Capital of Australia and it’s only fitting that support for basketball in our great State is reflected across the political divide,” he said.
After winning back-to-back NBL Championships in April but going down to the Tasmania JackJumpers 80-72 on Friday night, the Sydney Kings marked their NBL23 banner night with a 109-100 victory against the Adelaide 36ers on Sunday in front of 14,029 fans at Qudos Bank Area – the biggest home-opening crowd in NBL history.
With a 57-48 lead at the main break, the Kings fell back to 61-all before leading again 75-72 at three-quarter time.
The Kings then sealed the deal by dominating the statistical categories of three-point percentage (38-31), assists (27-17), second-chance points (25-14) and bench points (40-31).
Best players were Jordi Hunter, Jaylen Adams, Jaylin Galloway, Denzel Valentine and Kouat Noi.
They next take on Brisbane Bullets on Friday, October 13, from 7.30pm at Nissan Arena, Nathan, Queensland, followed by the Perth Wildcats from 4pm on Sunday at Qudos Bank Arena.
