Pounce on wanted man livestreaming

A MAN wanted on an arrest warrant for allegedly assaulting police, was streaming himself live outside Bankstown Police Station last Friday when police pounced.

The 29-year-old man was among 84 people arrested under Operation Persistence, a week-long operation targeting people wanted on outstanding warrants. He was arrested last Friday
The week-long operation started on March 12, when officers attached to all nine South West Metropolitan Region police area commands – with assistance from specialist units – proactively door-knocked and appealed to the public for assistance to locate wanted individuals.
The public appeal included photographs of wanted individuals posted daily on the NSW Police Force Facebook page and individual South West Metropolitan Command Eyewatch pages.
Another man has been charged over his alleged involvement in an armed robbery at a service station in Lakemba almost two decades ago.
The 38-year-old man, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for his alleged involvement in an armed robbery at a service station on Punchbowl Road in April 2003, was extradited from Queensland to face charges.
Police conducted several inquiries over the following years but were unable to locate the man, with information leading police to believe he may have fled interstate.
A 30-year-old man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant relating to an alleged aggravated kidnapping offence in Canterbury in April 2021, attended Auburn Police Station last Wednesday, after identifying himself during the Operation Persistence campaign. The man was refused bail until he reappears at Court on May 18.
The State Intelligence Command launched Operation Persistence in January and continues to work with police across the State to locate individuals wanted on outstanding warrants.
