Popular volunteer retiring after 30-year contribution

ABEL Tasman Village (ATV) has been a long-standing community presence in Chester Hill since its opening in 1994, with volunteer Clara Kempers there since day one to assist with activities, celebrate the successes and lend a sympathetic ear to those in need.

However after spending nearly 30 years as an ATV volunteer, Clara made the decision to retire and finished up last week.
ATV’s Margaret Russell said she would be greatly missed by residents and staff.
“What an amazing effort for nearly three decades,” Margaret said.
“Clara’s dedication has been outstanding; she has performed the role of pastoral carer by encouraging, supporting and strengthening residents’ spiritual welfare.”
Clara spent time with residents, prayed with them, volunteered at functions and coordinated church services within ATV, giving so much of her time and passion to ensure the well-being of the residents.
“She greatly enjoyed volunteering on the weekends playing board games, particularly Yahtzee, which the residents just loved,” Margaret said.
“ATV congratulates Clara and gives grateful thanks for her years of service.”
After her faithful years of service, Clara intends to spend time exploring her own interests including simply sitting on her verandah and reading a good book.
