Police target anti-social driving

Working in conjunction with the Police Air Wing, the Dog Unit and the South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad, police targeted anti-social driving behaviour over the weekend.

Police targeted anti-social driving behaviour within the Bankstown Police Area Command over the weekend, issuing thousands of dollars in fines.

Working in conjunction with the Police Air Wing, the Dog Unit and the South West Metropolitan Region Enforcement Squad, police were deployed to locations where anti-social driving behaviour has been prevalent.
On Friday, April 24 police detected the following incidents;
• A 25-year-old male who holds a Class C NSW licence was allegedly detected driving a Mercedes E63 at 134km/h in a signposted 70km/h area on the Hume Highway Yagoona. He was issued with an infringement notice for exceed speed over 45km/h ($2482, 6 points). His licence was suspended for 6 months, vehicle sanctions were not applied as he was not the owner of the vehicle.
• A 19-year-old male who holds a Class C (P2) drivers licence was allegedly detected travelling at 106km/h in this same signposted 70km/h area on the Hume Highway, Yagoona. He was issued with an infringement notice for exceed speed over 30km/h ($920, 5 points). His licence was suspended for 3 months.
• A 24-year-old male was allegedly detected riding a BMW S1000 RR motorcycle through residential streets of Greenacre at a speed of over 45km/h as well as in a manner dangerous to the public, along with not displaying any registration plates. He was tracked back to his residence where he had parked the motorcycle in his living room. The rider, who held an ACT licence was arrested and charged with; riding in a manner dangerous, exceed speed over 45km/h, class A vehicle not display number plate. The rider’s privileges were withdrawn to drive/ride in NSW until his court appearance.
• A 19-year-old male was stopped driving a Toyota Camry on the Hume Highway, Bankstown. This driver has never held a licence and was on bail not to occupy the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle. He was arrested and conveyed to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with; never licensed person drive on road – subsequent offence and breaching his bail.
• A 21-year-old male was allegedly detected driving a silver Toyota Celica exceeding the speed limit on the Hume Highway, Yagoona. When police activated all warning devices indicating for him to stop he failed to do so and a police pursuit was initiated. The driver reached speeds of 120km/h in a signposted 60km/h zone before eventually stopping for police. He was charged with police pursuit not stop drive at a speed dangerous (Skye’s Law) and exceed speed over 45km/h. His licence was suspended until the court appearance and the registration plates were confiscated for 3 months.
• A 24-year-old man was allegedly detected riding a stolen motorcycle on Roberts Road Greenacre. The rider was arrested where he provided false details, his correct identity was established and found that he did not hold a rider’s licence. He was charged with unlicensed rider for class along with state false name. Investigations into the stolen motorcycle are continuing.
On Saturday, April 25, the following incidents were detected;
• A 18-year-old P2 driver was allegedly detected travelling at 110km/h in a 70km/h zone on Roberts Road Greenacre. He was issued with an infringement notice for exceed speed over 30km/h ($920, 5 points). His licence was also suspended for 3 months with further sanctions from the RMS pending.
• A 33-year-old male was allegedly detected driving a white Ferrari driving at 105km/h in a signposted 60km/h area on Rookwood Road Yagoona. He was issued with an infringement notice for exceed speed over 30km/h ($920, 5 demerit points). His licence will be suspended by the RMS for 3 months.
• A 23-year-old male was allegedly detected riding a Suzuki GSXR-1000 motorcycle with it’s registration plates obscured on King Georges Road Wiley Park, he was monitored by police where they have then attempted to stop the motorcycle, it failed to stop and a pursuit initiated which was then terminated due to the excessive speed of the motorcycle – 160km/h. The motorcycle was monitored by PolAir and was riding at speeds of 200km/h in a 60km/h zone on King Georges Road. This motorcycle had a pillion passenger who allegedly “flipped the bird” at police driving past them whilst the motorcycle was riding on only its back wheel. The rider was arrested a short time later after dumping the motorcycle and attempting to hide in a residential premises. He was charged with, police pursuit, drive whilst disqualified (disqualified until 2032), drive in a manner dangerous and use class A vehicle with number plate obscured/defaced. This rider has since been refused bail until May 6.
