Police spoil outing for speedsters, drug and alcohol impaired, and high-risk drivers

EXCESSIVE speeding, drug and alcohol impaired drivers and other high-risk driving behaviours were targeted during Operation Spoiler, a two-day joint operation between Cumberland and Georges River Highway Patrol.

On Friday and Saturday, April 19-20, Highway Patrol officers were deployed to major arterial roads, with a strong focus on high-risk driving behaviours including excessive speeds, drug and alcohol impaired driving.
As a result of the operation, 426 breath tests were conducted with three positive results, 91 drug tests were conducted with four positive results, 59 drivers received a penalty notice for speeding, drivers were charged for traffic related offences, and there were two drug possession offences.
