Police shot, killed after threatening police

A MAN shot by police after he allegedly threatened an officer has died.

Police were called to a home in William Street, yesterday about 8.50am (Sunday, March 5), after reports of a domestic violence-related incident.
On arrival, officers were allegedly threatened by an armed man. A Taser was deployed before a police officer discharged his firearm.
Police immediately rendered first aid to the 29-year-old man until the arrival of paramedics. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital where he died.
A critical incident team comprised of officers from State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad will now investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the discharge of a police firearm.
That investigation will be subject to independent review.
