Poet night to showcase soul-stirring folk ballads

ADDING extra quack to their gathering, Auburn Poets & Writers (APW) welcome members of the ‘famous’ Duck River Band to their next Open Mic session at WestWords on Monday, April 22, from 7pm.

This multi-instrumental combo has delighted Western Sydney locals for a decade or more with a wide range of music from folk and pop standards, to bush ballads and Irish and English pastoral airs (tunes that used to be songs with the original lyrics lost).
APW convenor Danny Gardner says it is a true pleasure to hear them perform.
“As always there will be an open section for all aspiring poets and musicians and we will continue to feature our often hilarious ‘truth or lie’ segment where people from the floor tell of hazardous or just madly eccentric experiences and the audience is then asked to vote on whether it really happened,” he said.
Auburn Poets & Writers welcomes all forms of poetry and music to its friendly stage and if you want to feature your own poetry and music and have merchandise for sale, contact Danny on the night or email auburnpoetsgroup@hotmail.com.
