THE Giants remain undefeated atop the Suncorp Super Netball national competition, while the Swifts are holding down equal third after suffering their second loss.
The Giants beat the Vixens 68-54 and lead the competition after four rounds despite the setback of losing Australian goal attack Kiera Austin to a season-ending knee injury.
Sophie Dwyer continued her stunning rise and added another 23 goals, including five Suncorp Super Shots.
The 19-year-old took on the fierce Vixens duo Jo Weston and Kate Eddy to prove in just her second season that she belongs in the world’s toughest netball league.
The Swifts suffered their second defeat, going down by only four points in a thriller against Sunshine Coast Lightning.
The 58-54 loss means the Swifts have two wins and two losses and will look to regroup ahead of a home game against the in-form Magpies in Sydney next Sunday.
The Giants will fly over to Perth to face the West Coast Fever.
Plenty to celebrate
THE Giants had plenty to celebrate after their brave 16-point win over the West Coast Eagles helped them climb into the top eight. It was stand-in skipper Josh Kelly who led the way and inspired his undermanned team. The Giants will face the in-form Brisbane this week.
