A longtime Greenacre identity, volunteer and former president of Greenacre Lions Club, Mrs Williamson passed away in September 2019, and “to ensure her legacy lived on” her friends at the Lions Club held a fundraiser (which was delayed due to Covid) in her name to raise $10,000 to purchase an Online Chlorine Meter to safely monitor chlorine levels in water used for Renal Dialysis.
Her “dear friend” and mayor, Khal Asfour says a plaque will now also hang in the hospital foyer in recognition of Mrs William’s efforts and her selfless work.
“Helen Williamson, better known as Aunty Helen, may be gone, but her legacy lives on,” Mayor Asfour said.
“Helen, who passed away in 2019, received many accolades for the tireless work she did in raising millions of dollars for charitable causes.”
The plaque reads: “Catherine Helen Williamson, ‘Aunty Helen’, 1935-2019, May her love and compassion for her fellow man help you to heal”.
Plaque tribute to volunteer
THE memory of the amazing Helen Williamson will live on for years to come after a special tribute and a $10,000 donation at Bankstown Hospital, where she dedicated many years of volunteer service.
