Pilot shortlisted as one of the best

LITTLE Wings volunteer pilot Wayne Cotterill has been shortlisted as a finalist for ‘Commercial Pilot of the Year’ at the Australian Aviation Awards 2024.

Little Wings CEO Clare Pearson said Wayne had volunteered with Little Wings since 2018, completing over 500 missions and helping hundreds of families by providing safe air transportation to city hospitals for seriously ill children.
“His community service is an outstanding achievement, reflecting his commitment, dedication, professionalism and hugely generous heart,” she said.
“Multiple times a week, Wayne donates his time to fly our planes all over NSW, QLD and ACT helping those in need. He is a critical and deeply valued member of the team.”
Wayne said that every single family made each Little Wings mission special.
“I do it to help families, to use my skills as a pilot to get their sick child to and from home to the city, enabling them to get to hospital,” he said.
“Regardless of the result, it is humbling to know that the volunteer pilots of Little Wings are highly respected, valued and appreciated in the Australian aviation industry.”
