Craft and making things also builds resilience, it helps to develop skills to cope better with stress and it’s a simple solution that can help families reconnect and handle the daily busyness of life.
To get you on your crafting way, Cumberland libraries is offering free, take home Christmas Craft packs for adults, comprising all the materials and instructions to make a beautiful sequinned bauble and special drop star for your tree.
Library Programs and Events Co ordinator Kirsty Plumridge said in previous years, the eight Cumberland libraries would stage face-to-face morning teas for their members to thank them at Christmas for their support during the year.
“That of course has changed now because of Covid but it was still important for us to acknowledge our library users and offer them a little something for Christmas,” she said.
“The packs are really handy, with the instructions easy to follow and you’ll end up with some nice little additions to your Christmas tree and save you having to buy anything extra this year.”
You can pick up your pack from Monday, December 7, to Wednesday, December 23, until stocks last.
Residents are also invited to take part in a Christmas photo challenge for the chance to win a hamper.
“We will be running different Christmas-themed photos everyday on facebook, starting from December 1, and we would like residents to upload their pics as well for the chance to win,” Ms Plumridge said.
