Elisha Debbage came fifth in the national finals, Laura Scahill was a national finalist and Kelly Stewart made it to the national finals for the over 40s.
Kellie Grant also reached the zone finals and junior Jordan White made it to the finals at her first zone competition.
These achievements followed their success two years ago, when competitions were still on offer, as the club began competing at national championship level.
Club president Melanie Verrell is thrilled to have had such a successful start to the year and said they were always on the lookout for new members, especially juniors.
A ‘Physie’ enthusiast for over 40 years, Melanie’s mother was a teacher for 20 years who also taught current teacher Gillian.
A combination of ballet, jazz and yoga, Melanie says it’s fun learning the routines and perfecting them for competitions.
“It’s really good exercise that’s perfect for mums as it keeps you flexible and strong and also for children and teens as it builds self confidence, discipline and social skills,” she explained.
“It’s a lot more affordable than dance lessons too and we are registered for both the Active and Creative Kids vouchers.”
With classes on offer for three-year-olds to seniors (one member is in her early 60s) and the first two classes free to try, the club operates out of the Scout Hall on Arab Road at Padstow on Mondays, 4-9pm, Wednesdays, 4-8.30pm, and Saturdays, 2-5pm.
For more info or to book a class, call Gillian on 0408 814 005.
