Arrest over taking photo with child holding pistol

POLICE raided a Yagoona home and charged a 21-yer-old man after allegedly finding photos of him holding two pistols in the company of a young child, who was also holding a third Glock-style pistol.

The photo was allegedly uncovered during an investigation by Strike Force Hackenburg, which was established by State Crime Command’s Criminal Groups Squad to investigate a fatal shooting earlier this year.
On Wednesday, July 12, strike force officers raided seven homes, including the Yagoona home, and charged a 22-year-old man who remains before the courts.
At the Yagoona home, a number of items including a ballistic vest, ammunition, and six mobile phones which were seized for further examination.
The man will be facing 13 charges including four counts of possess unauthorised pistol, two counts of not keep firearm safely-pistol, three counts of unauthorised person fail to surrender firearm, not keep firearm safely-pistol, supply pistol to person unauthorised to possess it, possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority, and possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit.
Strike Force Hackenburg falls under Task Force Magnus, which was established last week to target and disrupt gun-related and violent crime, and to investigate links between the recent spate of shootings.
Detective Chief Superintendent Jason Weinstein, Commander of Task Force Magnus, says anyone who associates with organised criminals, can expect a knock on the door and to be dealt with accordingly if they’re found to be doing the wrong thing.
