Perfect for a family or an intimate date

NOW more like a good, old-fashioned country pub bistro with fresh, hearty meals and service that’s second to none, Padstow RSL’s kitchen has had a change of hands and invites foodies and club-goers to pop in and put their new menu to the test.
Called ’24 on Howard’ with chef Jimmy Wong and husband and wife restaurant managers Stephen and Mariati Lee at the helm, the menu is inspired by the local area’s love of all the classics like bangers and mash, schnitzels, chicken parmigiana, burgers and beautiful pasta meals.
Starting from $9, entrees comprise share plates, handmade arancini balls with pesto aioli, prawn combo, buffalo wings and salt and pepper calamari.
Ranging from $14 up to $32 for the 300g grass-fed T-Bone feast, mains include Angus beef or chicken burgers, steak sandwiches, grilled barramundi and grilled Atlantic salmon to name a few.
There’s always a few pleasant surprises on the specials board which changes daily.
One day last week featured Moroccan pumpkin soup for $9 ($11 for non-members), Texas pulled pork burger with all the trimmings for $15 ($17 for non-members) and a spinach and three cheese ravioli with baby rocket, cherry tomatoes and napolitana sauce with fresh parmesan for $18 ($20 for non-members).
“The pumpkin, sage and ricotta ravioli is very popular too among the ladies but our bangers and mash meals fly out the door everyday,” Stephen said.
“The new chef’s food is beautiful and the club is perfect for family dining, an intimate date or a function,” he said.
“We’ve also got a kids play area and are happy to cater for any event.”
It’s open for lunch and dinner six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday. For bookings, call 9773 0528.
