Bankstown Sports Bowling Club is inviting 2023 pennant players – men, women and mixed – to register for the Sunday, September 24, event at a cost of $90 a team which includes lunch.
A minimum of 12 points a team, based on 2023 pennant grading, is required for the three games of 15 ends.
The winning team will receive $900, second place, $570, third place, $480, fourth, $270, and highest margin each game, $180, along with a mystery prize of $90 (all players must be in the club when the prize is drawn and only one prize a team).
The club’s Tony Campbell said they were incredibly excited to hold the event again after such a long time, as it was a way to acknowledge their biggest supporter – Bankstown Sports Club Chairman John Murray.
“We wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for John and the other club directors,” he said.
“We were on the brink of closure and Bankstown Sports took us over in 2008, refurbishing our club house and supporting us all the way.
“We owe John an enormous debt of gratitude and you can bet he’ll be here on the day, cheering on all the bowlers.”
Tony said they were adopting the pennant grading points system for the event so that no team would be “star-studded”, giving all players a fighting chance at winning.
“It’s going to be a fair contest and a wonderful day of good, wholesome fun, we’re really looking forward to it and hoping to attract more local teams,” he said.
