Passerby detains man over abusing children

Just before 6.30pm on Wednesday, March 11, Campsie Police were called to a unit complex on Oswald Street, Campsie, after reports of a child approach.
Police will allege two children – aged four and six – were sitting in the front yard of the complex when a man riding a bike stopped and spoke to them, before he entered the front yard and sat down with them.
The man allegedly offered them lollies while he filmed the children and allegedly sexually touched one of them.
A nearby member of the public noticed the man and called police, detaining him until they arrived.
The 68-year-old man was charged with procure child under 14 years for unlawful sexual activity, produce child abuse material, two counts of film persons private parts without consent, intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years, produce child abuse material, two counts of common assault, enter inclosed land without lawful excuse and fail to comply with reporting obligations.
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad comprises detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse and extreme cases of neglect.
