Parks share in $70,000 win to cut littering with bins, signage

Environmental unfriendly non biodegradable pvc litter in public park present ecology issue

TWO local parks will share almost $70,000 in funding to help reduce littering.

Ray Marshall Reserve in South Granville and Everley Park in Chester Hill will be the beneficiaries, with new bins, educational signs and litter free toolkits on their way.
The funds are part of the $1.8m Litter Prevention Grants Program which is helping to tackle the problem statewide.
NSW Environment Minister James Griffin said the funding was part of the Waste Less Recycle More initiative that had already achieved a 43 per cent reduction in litter statewide since it started in 2013 and “this year’s recipients build upon that success, with funding going to innovative local initiatives”.
