Parents brush up for exhibition

FEATURING the works of the students and parents of Belmore South Public School, art exhibition ‘Connections’ has debuted in the Margot Hardy Gallery of Western Sydney University in Bullecourt Avenue, Milperra.

On offer daily, the exhibition runs until August 9 and celebrates the beautifully complex connections in the school community between teachers, students, parents, carers and colleagues.
Like a network of roots linking together to nourish a thriving garden, the school community relies on its own connections to thrive.
In their visual arts classes, the students have been exploring their family histories, identity, Australian culture and multiculturalism.
Visual art educators Alexandra Dos Santos and Helen Kuzmanovska run the club weekly, giving students further opportunities to take part in competitions and community projects, and connecting them with the broader community.
They also run a fortnightly Parent Art Club to give parents and staff the opportunity to connect over visual arts while learning new techniques, with works from both clubs included in the showcase.
