Paramedics flying in for Mardi Gras party

AMONG the sea of rainbows at next Saturday’s Mardi Gras parade, Bankstown paramedic Fab will be front and centre in his ambulance decorated with an array of colourful flags and wings.

Along with his colleagues Peter and Jake, Fab will also have his face painted to honour the event but will be in his uniform and on duty for the evening until the wee hours of the next day.
Then the uniform will come off and be replaced with party clothes as Fab and his colleagues join friends dancing up a storm in the annual LGBTQI celebration.
He says that to him, it’s ‘Gay Christmas’ and his favourite time of the year.
Taking part in each Mardi Gras parade since 2018, except when it was cancelled in Covid, Fab says he is more than happy to help his organisation demonstrate they are diverse and accepting.
“It’s such a nice way to break down barriers and integrate with the community,” he said.
“We’re all really looking forward to it and getting our mascots, flags and wings ready; it’s going to be a fantastic celebration after previously Covid-affected years, we can’t wait.”
