Bankstown lost the toss and were sent into the field which was going to be the same result had they won.
Without taking a wicket, Jannatul Sumona bowled with great control to really apply the pressure with 10 overs, 3 maidens, 0-13. Each of the fast bowlers all chipped in with wickets with Alice Whelan the pick of the bowlers taking 4-37, while Emily Lawler 2-25 and Angelina Genford 3-28 both bowled tight lines to eventually bowl Northern District out for 141.
After the loss of an early wicket, it was again a partnership that involved Jade Errington to swing the game in our direction.
Angelina Genford (19) and Jade (34) steadied the ship before losing 4-23 in the middle overs. Veteran Mel Penman (25) was joined by Samantha Devlin (22) who both played patient innings’ to get the team close to across the line, their 43 run partnership got Bankstown within 5 runs of the total before Samantha lost her wicket. That brought Asha Smith to the crease who wasted no time knocking off the last 5 runs to get Bankstown across the line in the 47th over 7 wickets down.
