More than 75 businesses will transform Haldon Street into a vibrant, global food bazaar every evening from Tuesday, March 21, to Thursday, April 20, from dusk until 3am.
Food-lovers will experience the tantalising flavours from several continents in just one night, with traditional cuisine from Indonesia, Burma, Pakistan, Lebanon, Cocos Islands, Syria and more.
Mayor Khal Asfour said last year’s event was a monumental success and had put Ramadan Nights Lakemba on the map as an event of national significance.
“Last year, we saw more than 1.2 million visitors flock to the streets of Lakemba throughout the holy month of Ramadan. That’s more than the Sydney Royal Easter Show,” Mayor Asfour said.
“Thousands gathered to celebrate Ramadan while non-Muslims alike were welcomed. It’s an important religious event on the Islamic calendar.”
This year, Ramadan Nights Lakemba is being supported by Multicultural NSW who are partnering with the council.
Visitors who want to avoid the crowds, are encouraged to come along early Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
Public transport is available as well as free shuttle buses which will be running every night from 6.30pm-12.30am.
