Over 60 celebrate East Hills VIEW Club’s 61st

MORE than 60 members, including 14 from other clubs, have helped East Hills VIEW Club celebrate its 61st anniversary at Revesby Workers’ Club.

A national women’s organisation and support network, VIEW Clubs of Australia was founded in 1960 and now boasts over 14,000 members nationally.
Members come together in their local communities to enjoy a variety of activities and, importantly, to support the education of young Australians in need through their on-going support of The Smith Family.
The children’s charity was founded on Christmas Eve 1922 when five businessmen walked into a Sydney orphanage to deliver toys and sweets.
Their single goal? To improve the lives of disadvantaged children.
They preferred to remain anonymous and would only acknowledge their name as ‘Smith’ so ‘The Smith Family’ was born.
Today they support over 58,000 students nationally through the ‘Learning For Life’ program.
This year, to acknowledge the centenary of The Smith Family organisation, VIEW Clubs have been encouraged to acknowledge this milestone which was the theme for East Hills’ birthday celebrations. Members were also provided with a template to make masks in recognition of the centenary.
“At East Hills VIEW Club, we look forward to continuing our support of the Learning For Life Program,” a spokesperson said.
“We are very proud of the support we can give to young people as we also benefit from enjoying our social activities together.”
East Hills VIEW Club meet on the third Monday of the month from 11am at Revesby Workers’ Club, with the next on July 18.
