The event was put together by the Lebanese Muslim Association (LMA) in collaboration with a number of other mosques and religious organisations in light of the recent conflict in Gaza.
The LMA took the almost unprecedented step of moving Friday prayer (known as Jumu’ah) from its iconic Lakemba Mosque to nearby Parry Park to cater for the anticipated huge crowd and the Association’s expectations were well and truly met. Muslims around the world have been standing in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
Lakemba Mosque Imam Sheikh Yahya Safi (Arabic) and Sheikh Wesam Charkawi (English) delivered the sermons (khutbahs) and spoke passionately about the plight of the Palestinian people.
Their words were eloquently supported by guest speakers Abraham Zoabi, Sheikh Ahmed Abdo and Siddiq Buckley.
